Read on!

Why are we a B Corp?

In an era where sustainability and social involvement are increasingly coming to the forefront, companies that are committed to positive change are super important. One way companies can show this is by achieving a B Corp certification. But what exactly does this mean? And why is it important? Let's take a look at what B Corp certification involves, what B Corp month means, and why we're so proud to be a B Corp!

Here are a few reasons why we are a B Corp:

Transparency is our middle name! As a B Corp, we lay everything on the table: from how we run the shop to the impact we make. With our 'Circle of Goodness', we are like an open book! This ensures that we always keep ourselves sharp and strive to be better every day.

Social impact, duh! We donate 50% of our net profit to building toilets in Africa. Yes, you read that right! This way, we ensure soft bottoms and clean hands where it's needed most. And we go even further by offering opportunities in our social workshop in the Netherlands to those who could use an extra push to get back on track.

Sustainability. At The Good Roll, we are huge fans of a clean planet! As a proud B Corp, we understand how essential it is to put Mother Nature first. So, we're actively working to keep our ecological footprint as small as possible. Our toilet paper is an eco-friendly combo of bamboo, kraft, and pure recycled paper. We leave out all chemicals, dyes, and scents. That's how we do it: less impact on the environment and everything for a world that's as fresh as our toilet paper!

Our super team! At our place, the team is just as important as our mission. We commit to a work environment where everyone is equal. Our goal? To boost, stimulate, and inspire everyone in the team with a hefty dose of motivation. Together, we make the impossible possible!

What does it mean when a company is a B Corp?

Being a B Corp means more than just making a profit. It's all about the positive impact made on society and the environment, while also pursuing one's own goals. B Corps must be transparent in their operations, and their effect on employees, the environment, and their customers. So, we set the bar very high when it comes to social and environmentally friendly practices and are always looking for ways to improve!

What happens during B Corp month?

During this special month, B Corp companies go all-in! Think webinars, panel discussions, volunteer work, and workshops – you name it. We hosted our own event, The Good Event. Here, we not only looked back on our journey so far but also looked forward to our future plans. And guess what? We had inspiring guest speakers, other B Corp companies, and our partner’s visit. Here, we networked and got to know each other's sustainable products. In short, B Corp month is brimming with energy and inspiration where we make a positive impact on the world together!

What is a B Corp certification?

But what exactly is a B Corp certification? It stands for 'Benefit Corporation' and is awarded to companies that set high social and green standards. In the Netherlands, there are already 211 companies that can call themselves B Corp. And we are proudly one of them! Globally, this number is even over 3,600 companies. These companies are not just about profit, but especially about making a positive impact. But to get this label, you have to tick quite a few boxes.

To start, a company's governance must be well arranged. Companies must show that they have a transparent and fair approach to their governance processes. In addition, companies must be open about their business practices. This includes financial information, environmental reports, and social impact. This makes their activities visible. So, there's nothing to hide. Third, environmental performance is important. B Corp companies are assessed on their impact on the environment and their efforts to reduce the impact of energy consumption, waste management, and sustainable materials.

Lastly, companies must demonstrate that they are committed to social performance. This includes fair labor practices, diversity, customer satisfaction, and contributing to the entire society.

If all these factors are positive, the company earns the honor of calling itself a B Corp company. It takes a bit of work, but it's all worth it!

Conclusion

In short, B Corp certifications, B Corp Month, and companies like us rock in the transition to a world that is greener and fairer. By giving extra attention to our positive impact this month, we can inspire others as well! Let's build a future together where business success and a better world go hand in hand.
