Deffart X The Good Roll present: The African Art Line
Kingsley Deffor is an artist to remember!

As you might know, one of our goals is to display the fine arts of African artists every year. We are excited to introduce our next designs, created by artist Kingsley Kofi Deffor from Accra, Ghana. He is also better known as Deffart. He is a muralist who focuses on expressing his admiration and artistic talent through street art. Being able to make a living from it is a childhood dream that came to reality.
Kingsley has amazed us with his creative ability to capture the dignified emotions of the people around him and present them in detailed figurative portraits. His art is inspired by music, the encounters with people in his daily life and the culture of his hometown Anloga. These figurative portraits and other art we selected to be featured in this launch, are one of our most favorable themes the African Art Line. They were designed using his former method for creating designs, which involved spray can and airbrushing techniques. Now he creates art using newspaper and mixed materials in his paintings.
His love for art and his hope for the growth of his career is a big reason why he agreed to work with The Good Roll. He believes that the world needs to know of the growing art culture of Ghana. It motivates him to keep going, when he can spread his art and more people are introduced to his beautiful and meaningful work.

To show appreciation of the amazing art that Deffart has created, we have collaborated to present you with a taste of his art on our toilet paper wrappers. Behind every art piece is a story to be told.

The painting above expresses the importance of gathering and reuniting white and black people. The earth in the center signifies a head which represents the fact that all people, of whatever origin, live together in the same world. For centuries distinction, discrimination and racism has played a major part in the dynamics between white and black people. So it is time to unite and accept that all mankind are considered one, sharing the same planet in the same universe.

This artwork represents strong African woman who are not satisfied with how Africa is changing in its authenticity. You can see that she is sad from her facial expression. The flowers in her hair, and the colorful background represents the colorful Africa the woman sees changing. Her lifted face translates the positivity, perseverance and confidence she has in Africa regaining the diverse and colorful authenticity.

This piece celebrates Ghanaian tradition. It is showing a traditional chief (a tribal chief) wrapped in his kente (a typical Ghanaian fabric) robe sharing out food along with his followers, to his people. This demonstrates the high importance of a chief and various tribes to the Ghanaian culture.

The fruit and vegetable markets in Ghana are a large part of Ghanaian culture. This image depicts a market where women are known to sell tomatoes. When the women are working throughout the day, they wear large hats on their heads to protect them from the heat of the sun. In the background, a woman is visible wearing a bowl on her head, which is painted to represent the hard and heavy work of selling tomatoes.

This piece of the boy with the water represents the joy of a child who has just learned to wash himself. His proud expression shows that he is capable of taking a shower independently and his wink illustrates the hope he has in his family seeing and appreciating this memorable moment. He also has a lot of fun cleaning himself and playing with the water.

We are proud to share this new African Art Line and the art works from Deffart. This box is now online, so you too are able to have fine pieces of art sent to you in Europe and other countries.
