Our Impact in The Netherlands and Africa

The Good Roll is not just another toilet paper brand. We are on a mission! We don't just want to provide the world with the (very very very) softest and most sustainable toilet paper; we want to make the world a little bit cleaner and greener. So, let's take a moment to reflect on the impact we've made so far, both here in the Netherlands and across the Atlantic.

Impact in the Netherlands

First, let's take a jump to our little country, the Netherlands! Our mission started with offering 100% recycled toilet paper. That in itself was an epic leap towards a greener existence, as 27,000 trees are killed every day to produce the ordinary roll.

But that's far from being all. We raised the bar of corporate social responsibility to unprecedented heights by setting up our own social workplace in Weesp. We believe that everyone who wants to work and is capable of doing so should have the opportunity to do so. That's why The Good Roll employs people who are distanced from the labour market and helps to pack and wrap toilet rolls. 

By providing the right guidance, we enable people with physical or mental disabilities to gain work experience. This provides more structure and independence. This is why we have one internal and five external social workplaces. The internal workplace is located at our head office in Weesp and the external workplaces can be found in Gouda, Lelystad, Emmeloord, Amsterdam & Purmerend. All this is made possible thanks to our cooperation with the Sociaal Werkkoepel Amsterdam, day care of HVO-Querido, and Orion College.

The Good Roll Foundation - impact in Africa

Let's focus on the beautiful continent of Africa. Unfortunately, many people here are not blessed with access to decent, clean toilets. For this reason, we obviously want to go the extra mile to make an extra impact. For this reason, we set up The Good Roll Foundation in 2018.

The Good Roll Foundation is the social sister of The Good Roll. We engage in a range of projects that make the world a little better, including building sanitation facilities and spreading knowledge about essential sanitary products, such as toilet paper, menstrual pads and soap. Our mission? To improve wellbeing in schools and communities that need our help. For example, we have now built over 200 toilets in Ghana, improving 11,650 lives.

We also partner with Simavi, an organisation that has been working to improve the health of vulnerable communities in Africa and Asia since 1925. By donating 50% of our net profit to The Good Roll Foundation, our efforts can go beyond building toilets; it includes water, hygiene and health!
